This series continues the focus on the flower "forget-me-nots" (or Myosotis sylvatica, woodland perennials) in connection to my mother's diagnosis of Alzheimers in 2016. This new work includes the flowers from my grandmother's garden (her mom) as the focal layer, while the forget-me-nots serve as a whisper layer in the background. This disease is ever present in my family's daily life, and sometimes overwhelming as you watch your loved ones cope with her changing as we try to support each other.

My Grandmother battled her own diagnosis of breast cancer, which consumed my mother in her desire to support and take care of my grandma. Through two different mastectomy procedures, various treatments and home health care, my mother stretched during the period of time when my siblings and I moved through elementary and middle school. Already widowed, my grandmother didn’t reveal hardship or favor, but tradition and care.

Upon her passing, my mother uprooted her parents rose bushes and tried to replant at our family home. While I don’t remember if they ever took root or survived, I do remember the day we worked to transplant them to a new fertile home.
